Each kit comes with enough material to make about 18 to 20 canine-to-canine periodontal splints, 25-30 single pontic anterior bridges, or 40-70 fiber reinforced composite restoratons. Ribbond reinforcement fibers have an indefinate shelf life.
Introduced in in 2013 Ribbond ULTRA is our premium dental fiber. It’s the thinnest of all Ribbond fiber reinforcement ribbons, (0.12 mm thick), has the highest flexural modulus and has a greater peak load than the Ribbond THM and and is more adaptable. It lays flatter against the teeth which creates a thinner bond line to the teeth. It is available in widths of 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, and 1mm (for fixed orthodontic retainers).
Introduced in 2001, Ribbond THM is an excellent all-purpose fiber. It is 0.18 mm thick and is available in widths of 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 7mm and 1mm (for fixed orthodontic retainers).
Introduced in 1991, Original Ribbond is our first version of Ribbond fiber reinforcement ribbons. It is 0.35 mm thick and is available in 2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 9mm widths.
Made using a traixial braid, Ribbond Triaxial achieves the highest strength and modulus of elasticity of any Ribbond product. It is is thicker (0.50 thick) and more rope like than the other leno woven Ribbond products. This is our premium product for indirect bridges involving preparations to the teeth.
See our list of compatible composites from major manufacturers.
- Use an unfilled adhesive bonding resin or Ribbond Wetting Resin to wet the fibers (do not use a resin that contains dentin primers or self-etching resins).
- Use a soft filled composite or Ribbond Securing Composite for adhering the fibers to the etched teeth.
- Use a flowable composite for covering the over the cured Ribbond to act as a smoothing/covering layer.
The Ribbond placement is designed for placing Ribbond in composite restorations and for endodontic posts and cores. It is a modified double ended gutta percha condensing instrument with V-shaped grooves cut in each end. These forked V- shaped ends engage the Ribbond fibers and prevent the tips from poking through the Ribbond weave. The tips are 0.6 mm and 0.8 mm wide. Please note that this instrument is not generally used for making periodontal splints or making bridges.
